Gilman Alumnus Recognized For Winning Three National Scholarships

Gilman Alumnus Curtis Longtime Sleeping (Japan, 2016) was recognized in a ceremony at the University of North Dakota to honor UND students who’d won national scholarships or awards. After he returned from studying abroad in Japan through the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program, Curtis won the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) in 2017 to study in Korea. 

After graduating from the University of North Dakota, Curtis taught English in Korea during the 2018-19 academic year through the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. The Fulbright program is the largest U.S. exchange program, offering opportunities for students and young professionals to undertake international graduate study, advanced research, university teaching, and primary and secondary school teaching worldwide.
