Deadlines & Timeline Overview
Students can study and intern abroad during the spring, summer, fall, winter, or academic year term. Refer to each term for specific dates on the deadlines and timelines for the application cycle. It is important that students apply for the correct scholarship term according to their program dates in order to be considered for the Gilman Scholarship.

Please be aware that the application deadline is in Pacific Time (PT) and take into consideration any time difference as you prepare to submit your application. Late applications are not accepted.
Application Deadlines & Timeline
Cycle 1 is now closed for applicants whose programs start from December 1, 2019, to October 31, 2020. This cycle encompasses Winter 2020, Spring 2020, Summer 2020, Fall 2020, and Academic Year 2020-2021 programs. Please be aware that the application and advisor certification deadlines are in Pacific Time and take into consideration any time difference as you prepare to submit your application.
All applicants are notified of their status via email. All advisors will also be notified of scholarship recipients via email and will have access to the status of each student in their Gilman Advisor account.
If an applicant is not selected for Cycle 1, they may re-apply for the next cycle as long as they continue to meet the eligibility requirements and their program falls within the start dates.

Cycle 2 will open in mid-January 2020 for applicants whose programs that start from May 1, 2020 to April 30, 2021. This cycle encompasses Summer 2020, Fall 2020, Academic Year 2020-2021, Winter 2021, and Spring 2021 programs. Application Process
Award Distribution
The Gilman Scholarship Program will notify award recipients when their award documentation is complete, approved and their scholarship funds will be sent through IIePay (Zelle). Award disbursements are sent approximately 3-4 weeks after your award documentation is complete.
