Gilman Alumna Rawnag Abdelaziz (Morocco, Spring 2016) has been awarded the Alumni and Friends of the London School of Economics in the United States (AFLSE) for 2019-2020. The scholarship will cover Rawnag’s tuition costs for a year of graduate study at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) where she is pursuing a Master of Science in Environmental Policy and Regulation.
“Living and studying in Morocco was one of the most eye-opening experiences I have ever had, and it would not have been possible without the generosity of the Gilman Scholarship,” said Rawnag. “This experience has inspired me to continue my studies abroad.”
The AFLSE was founded in 1970 to foster and sustain relations between the LSE and its alumni in the United States. It is now the School’s largest and oldest alumni association outside the United Kingdom and is recognized by the LSE as the official volunteer organization for alumni relations in the USA. The AFLSE awards one scholarship each year, which covers the full cost of tuition to a student who has a superior academic record, a compelling plan for their course of study at the LSE and post-academic career, and demonstrated financial need.
Rawnag’s research interest is in sustainability transition and climate change adaption policy development, particularly in East Africa. After completing her degree, Rawnag hopes to continue her education with the goal of earning a Ph.D.
