Gilman Top Producer 2022
The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) is pleased to announce the Gilman Top Producing Institutions for Academic Year 2020-2021. ECA recognizes this period marks unprecedented challenges for the higher education community, including with respect to student mobility, and is proud to have supported nearly 800 Gilman Scholars from 48 U.S. states and territories to study or intern, including virtually, in 77 locations around the world. The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program aims to expand the U.S. student population that studies and interns abroad, helping more young Americans to gain the professional skills, language abilities, and knowledge of the world needed for successful careers and contributing to our country’s economic prosperity. The outstanding and diverse American undergraduate students who study overseas with support from the Gilman Program also build relationships, foster mutual understanding, and represent American culture and values, including in developing countries and countries critical to U.S. national security.
We applaud the U.S. higher education community for your perseverance and attention to these shared goals during this challenging period. We appreciate your dedication and commitment to developing globally minded U.S. future leaders. We also recognize our Gilman global partners, who provided support for Gilman Scholars and appreciate their commitment to supporting more diverse U.S. students to study in their countries/locations through the Gilman Program.

With the Gilman 20-year Top Producers list, ECA recognizes U.S. higher education institutions, based on size and type, which have generated the most Gilman scholars since 2001. In recognition of the Gilman Program’s 20th anniversary, ECA is proud to celebrate the 20 years of partnership between the Gilman Program and the U.S. higher education community to make study abroad more accessible to outstanding and diverse American students who otherwise would not have had the funding for an international academic experience.

About the Gilman International Scholarship Program
The Gilman International Scholarship Program broadens the U.S. student population that studies and interns abroad by providing scholarships to outstanding undergraduates who, due to financial constraints, might not otherwise participate. Since the program’s establishment in 2001, over 1,300 U.S. institutions have sent over 34,000 Gilman Scholars to 155 countries around the globe.
