A first-generation college student, Ana Azarte made it her mission to attend higher education and explore the world. Through the Gilman Scholarship, Azarte interned in Paris at Archive Valley, a multinational online company that digitally connects people with archive resources from around the world.
“I realized there are so many different cultural communities around the world. My experience outside of the United States helped me to reflect on my own cultural community as the daughter of an immigrant from Mexico growing up in Iowa.”
After returning home and graduating from the University of Iowa in 2017, Azarte landed a job as a bilingual client relationship associate at Channel Fusion, a global marketing and advertising company in Iowa. Read more about Azarte’s experience abroad.
